Patio Chair Feet Caps, 1.5 in, Black or White, 24 or 36 Pack
Round plastic caps that slip over worn patio chair and table feet about 1.5 in across, so the frame sits level and spares the deck. Black or white.
The small caps on the feet of a patio chair take every scrape across the deck. Once they crack or wear through, the bare frame scratches the deck or patio and the chair no longer sits level. These round plastic caps slip over worn patio chair and table feet. They are sized for feet about 1.5 in across and come in black or white, in packs of 24 or 36.
Measure before you order. Take a ruler or calipers to the outside of the leg or foot, right where the cap will go, across its widest point. If it is about 1.5 in, these fit. They are for round feet; a square or oval tube needs a cap made for that shape. Also look at how the old cap was fitted: these go over the outside of the foot, not into the end of the tube.
Fitting them:
- Turn the chair over on a soft surface and pull or cut away what is left of the old caps.
- Clean the foot: scrape off dirt and old plastic, and file down any sharp burr on the metal so it does not cut the new cap.
- Push the new cap on by hand, then tap it fully home with a rubber mallet, working around the rim so it goes on straight.
- If a cap is stiff, leave it in the sun or in warm water for a few minutes first. Warm plastic gives a little.
Do all the feet of one chair at the same time so it stands level. Feet caps are often the last step after new straps or a new sling, and the patio chair project page has the rest of the job.
How to choose
Measure across the outside of the foot where the cap goes. These fit round feet about 1.5 in across. If yours measure noticeably more or less, or the tube is square or oval, they won't sit right.
Pick the color to match the frame or the old caps: black for dark frames, white for white and light ones.
Then count the feet. A four-legged chair takes four caps, so a 24 pack covers six chairs and the 36 pack, in black, covers nine. A table and four chairs take 20. Measure the table feet separately, since they are not always the same size as the chairs.
Questions
Will they fit my chair?
They fit round feet about 1.5 in across, slipped over the outside. Measure the outside of the foot at its widest point before you order; square, oval or much smaller feet need a different cap.
My old caps plug into the end of the tube. Will these work?
No. These slip over the outside of the foot. Caps that push into the end of the tube are a different part.
How do I get them on?
Clean the foot, push the cap on by hand and tap it home with a rubber mallet, working around the rim. A stiff cap goes on more easily after a few minutes in the sun or in warm water.
Can I use them on a patio table?
Yes, on table feet of the same size and shape. Measure the table feet on their own; they are not always the same as the chairs.
